PGR meeting and networking 2023

On October the 4th, 2023, from 2pm to 5pm, we attended the Postgraduate Research (PGR) meetup and networking as part of the PGR Induction Week. This exhibition was held at the Library building at Mile End. Some members of our HPC team and the Researcher Liaison team had the opportunity to explain the benefits of our HPC cluster at QMUL, Apocrita.

We gave out flyers that included links to tutorials and information related to the HPC service provided at QMUL. In our stall, we had the chance to speak with some students in person. These postgraduate students do research at different schools of QMUL.

We were able to listen to their expectations about research using HPC facilities, and it was very good to hear that some of them had already had experiences with managing other clusters in the UK.

While enjoying some sweets and Apocrita stickers and souvenirs, this event was extremely useful to promote our ongoing HPC training activities at QMUL. During the event, we announced our next HPC talk at People's Palace, Room PP2, on November 15th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The High Performance Computing at QMUL topics included how to access and work with Apocrita, and show how to speed up simulations or process massive data calculation for researchers.

The occasion was proper to introduce Beesly, our HPC@QMUL mascot.
